BGA – Coloured Outside The Lines

So I’ve been messing around with music again, whether it’s worth it being anywhere other than my own HDD I don’t really know, but I’ll never know unless I put it out there, right? That said, here’s my latest efforts. I’d struggle to call it an album because it’d have to be of release quality for that and besides that it’s only half an hour long. Anyway, here it is in all its glory, enjoy:

(Edit: Track 4 was in fact an earlier mix of Track 1, this has now been corrected.)

Music #2: To Tell You

You.

You rotter, you scoundrel, you vagabond fop,

My best friend and you did consort,

Without such a word or a message or note,

Neither of you did report,

You dandy, you bully, you blaggard and tramp,

Intentions I wished to propose,

Before I could utter suggestion or thought,

Your voice from the doorway arose,

You pig and you thief and you bounderous cad,

With my heart I cannot dispute,

I saw both before me and could not agree,

Yet still I could only be mute,

You swine and you foul and you treacherous dog,

This scene is a terrible dream,

I cannot believe it, I mustn’t, I won’t,

I’m sad now, you’re awfully mean.

Once A Summer Rose

That day we all went swimming and when we’d finished there,
My eyes were locked outside upon your damp and darkened hair,
Walking home together in the blazing summer sun,
Innocence, so young and fragile, all we knew was fun,

Slide to one month later in the alley in our street,
Behind the houses we were stood, my heart was skipping beats,
Neither of us had a clue, we both spoke nervous laughs,
A youthful voyage onward as I held you in my grasp,

Seems so many years ago, my memory yet holds firm,
A picture like a movie scene, so many things we learned,
A long, long way we both have come, on our different paths,
Began so long ago at the indoor swimming baths.

We knew so well not what to do, improvised, confused,
Stumble through our lines ad-lib but still we couldn’t lose,
Anything we could’ve said would not have have changed a thing,
Finally the centrepiece would slowly now begin,

Bashfully we came together, closing both our eyes,
Forever could’ve lasted, silent ecstatic cries,
The world revolved around us and the people on it too,
What could’ve been disaster was perfect there with you,

Well since then our paths have split and we’ve gone seperate ways,
Maybe you’re not doing great and life’s destroyed you on display,
It wouldn’t do us any good to both revisit this,
But never will my mind erase, what once was our first kiss.

One last glance, a tear and choke,
Framed photos in a box,
The time has come to move along,
The last turn of the locks,

Close the cardboard flaps and tape,
The last one’s full and sealed,
Load the car and say goodbye,
True feelings now revealed.

Sleep so tight, you weary child,
May your dreams be sweet and mild,
The moon shall kiss your forehead soft,
To pleasant lands he’ll send you off…

Missing

A hopeless young romantic stood,
Framed photo in his hand,
Hung by weak grasp near his thigh,
For life had not been grand,

The picture that hung by his side,
Depicted his true love,
A woman that no other matched,
Dressed well from hat to glove,

A moment passed, his eyes aglaze,
His mind spooled fairytale,
Frown lines passed upon his face,
To himself he regaled,

“We have a house, a small abode,
Not much but just enough,
A dog to keep us company,
A garden, slightly rough,”

“Money, some, for finer things,
A gift or two for her,
Books and cards to occupy,
Antique funiture,”

“Friends we have great many,
From church and far afield,
The doctor, a fine chap,
Our son he once healed,”

As this he thought, a sudden start,
A deaf’ning smash occured,
The photo slipped from his weak grasp,
His eyes began to blur,

Damp, his eyes, as tears began,
Traced contours down his face,
Reality had woken him,
His fairytale replaced,

Retired to bed, his vision smashed,
To dream it he was sure,
But the girl contained within the tale,
Would live with him no more.

Alcohots

A seedy club, a passing glimpse,
A drink too many, no?
A rush up through the body, instant,
A limb begins to grow,

Do you sit or make a move,
As she passes by?
Her dress is brushing by your table,
Again, she caught your eye,

A face that’s oh so beautiful,
A figure oh so grand,
A voice that’s simply heavenly,
A limb begins to stand,

You find her once more at the bar,
The booze is hitting hard,
Take a chance or let her wander,
Should you play your card?

A minute longer, body’s warming,
A healthy facial glow,
A testing situation and,
A limb that’s fit to blow,

You blink and focus, shake the haze,
She’s gesturing to come,
You try to rise and take the stage,
It’s hard to miss this one,

A cocktail bar that’s packed and bustling,
A single target locked,
A sight so irresistible,
A limb that’s hard as rock,

She becons you once more towards,
You prop up on the bar,
Attempt to clear the fog again,
And tell her who you are,

A task so drunken, difficult,
A prize, a lover’s feast,
A rush of pure adrenaline,
A limb primed like a beast,

The world just seems to disappear,
The moment you arrive,
She holds you and engages lips,
Such pleasure you derive,

A body pressed against another,
A heartbeat hard and fast,
A time to never be forgotten,
A limb as proud as brass.
